The article is intriguing since it's indicating that he was both "awake and talking" but also "flown out". Knowing nothing about the situation, I'm guessing he had a non-ambulatory injury and it was safer for all involved to just fly him out. Either way, an emergency bivouac on the summit in January doesn't sound like much fun. Thankfully he was found relatively quickly and the article leads me to believe that he will survive whatever injuries he has sustained.
